Before someone buys from you, they decide if they trust you. Visual design plays a bigger role in that decision than most founders realize.

Within 50 milliseconds of landing on a page, visitors form a trust judgment. That judgment is almost entirely visual. It happens before a single word is read.
Dense, cluttered layouts signal low quality. Premium brands use generous whitespace to communicate confidence — they are not afraid of empty space because they have nothing to hide. The Apple product page and the Stripe landing page both demonstrate this principle at scale.
Using more than two font families on a page is an amateur tell. Pick a display font for headings and a legible workhorse for body copy. Consistent sizing ratios (use a modular type scale) communicate professionalism subconsciously.
Every color on your site should appear in your brand palette. Random color usage destroys the perception of craft. A two-color palette used rigorously beats a five-color palette used carelessly every time.
“Design is not how it looks. Design is how much the person looking at it trusts you.”
